Simple Sample: Discount Percentage Field

This template is based on the Simple Invoice Template: Discount Amount Field (c4051). It demonstrates how to add a discount percentage field.

1. First, backup the template and database files.
2. Open the template.
3. Click the "Design Mode" button on the ribbon tab.
4. Click cell G35 and enter the text "DISCOUNT PERCENTAGE".
5. Click to select cell H35. Enter the cell name "oknDiscountPercentage" into the name box on the left side of the Excel formula bar.
6. Right-click the same cell and choose "Format Cells" from the shortcut menu.
7. On the "Format Cells" dialog box, go to the "Number" tab.
8. From the "Category" list, choose "Percentage". Adjust the "Decimal Place" if you like. In this sample, we just keep the default value of "2".

   Click OK to close the "Format Cells" dialog box.

9. Click the "oknDiscountAmount" cell at K35 and modify its formula as follows:

   =ROUND( SUM ( oknLineTotal_1:oknLineTotal_12 ) * oknDiscountPercentage,2)
   

10. Exit design mode by clicking the "Design Mode" button again.
11. Click the "Invoices" button on the ribbon tab.
12. Click "Custom Fields".
13. On the "Custom Field Manager" dialog box, make sure "Invoice Header" is selected in the "Database Table" list.
14. Click "Add Field" to open the "Add New Custom Field" dialog box.
15. Define the new field like this:
    • Field Name: DiscountPercentage
    • Type: Decimal
    • Precision: 6
    • Scale: 4
16. Click OK to close the "Add New Custom Field" dialog box.
17. Click "Close" to close the "Custom Field Manager" dialog box.
18. Save the template.
